Orange Chat (Epthianura aurifrons) male Stockyard Plains DB
Orange Chat (Epthianura aurifrons) male Stockyard Plains DB Reserve SACanon EOS 40D Lens 100-400mm L IS USM at 400 mm ISO 400 F7.1 1/2000 fill flash 19 October 2009 Another from the series taken at Stockyard Plains west of Waikerie SA. Amazing the fineness of the twigs that these birds use as perches. Attractive enough when wind is absent but with a breeze blowing still attractive but requires some adjustment. Taken while Geoff G was still at Stockyard with me. Thanks for viewing Best regards Rod Warnock Attachment:

You have a great series of the species, Rod! You must be rapt you managed to come away with such nice shots! I have no idea how that twig is holding the bird!
Have you made plans to visit Paluma yet?

That doesn't look like a very stable perch Another fantastic shot!

I have enjoyed viewing your Orange Chat shots. The light in this one is beautiful and the prey an added bonus.

A great shot from a great series, love the way it is balanced on that tiny twig..I think a 'little more head turn' would have been nice ... sorry, maybe a poor joke...

Thank you all for your comments. I had done another version which allowed more space around bird. On BPN Ofer Levy commented that the version seen above here (& on BPN same image) "Lovely shot Rod! Love the pose and food. Would crop less as bird is a bit to big in the frame as presented IMO and image quality suffers from the crop." I have posted the other version here to see the difference. I think the looser crop is better..what do you all think? Best regards Rod Warnock Attachment:
