Post Spotted Whistling Duck
Dendrocygna guttata

Taken a week ago when on our way back from the Wenlock River. She only had one chick.

Let me know what you think. :)

Post Re: Whistling Duck
I saw the report (from Ben I think) of finding these breeding in Australia. Exciting news, does this mean they will no longer be recorded as "Vagrant" :?:

Great shot, looks like sunlight wasn't on your side, but well captured none the less :)

Oh, and I think you should add the word "Spotted" to the image title ;)

Yes i saw Ben's report too and was very excited! Great to see such an important photo that is this good Kristy!
Bummer about the light but its not really important with this image due to the subject matter.
I agree you should at least put Spotted somewhere as that is the species ;)
Thanks so much for sharing this photo Kristy :D

Fantastic image to have taken Kristy - its significant that they are now breeding in Australia and you have a photographic record - as been said not the perfect photo but still a great one for all sorts of reasons! I went looking for these on my one and only Cape York trip with no cigar.

It will be interesting to see if this species range begins to increase in time or whether they will always remain right at the top!

cheers
